PHCC launches a new psychiatry clinic at Al Wajba Health Center

Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) has announced the successful launch of the latest Integrated Psychiatry Clinic at Al Wajba health center, which commenced as of September 23, 2019 and considered to be the third clinic of its kind after Al Thumama and Qatar University health center.

The clinic is a community-based service for patients registered at any PHCC Health Center and jointly delivers services with Hamad Medical Corporation for patients with moderate to severe mental health concerns. The clinic will provide effective, evidence based mental health assessment, diagnosis and treatment, improving access and take up of mental health care services closer to patients homes and in a less stigmatizing setting.

All patients aged between 18-65 years are eligible for this comprehensive service, treatment options may include psychological interventions, medication management, advice on lifestyle and self-management as well as appropriate education and advice for patients and their care givers.

This collaborative work between primary and secondary care providers supports the implementation of a stepped model of care and integration between services.

PHCC Psychiatry clinics provide services for psychiatric cases, such as moderate to severe anxiety, depression, as well psychosis, obsessive-compulsive disorders amongst others. Patients requiring this service will need to visit a Family Physician, who will assess and refer to the service if appropriate.
