Ministry organises Qatar's first Public Health Conference

The Ministry of Public Health will organize on Monday and Tuesday the first Qatar Public Health Conference entitled "Ten Years of Public Health: Looking Back and Forward" in cooperation with the World Summit on Innovation in Healthcare (WISH), with a large presence of local and international officials and experts.

Dr. Sheikh Dr. Mohammed bin Hamad Al -Thani, Director of the Public Health Department at the Ministry of Public Health, said that the conference is an essential part of the Qatar Public Health Strategy 2017-2022, which falls under the umbrella of the National Health Strategy 2018-2022.

It is scheduled to be organized every two years to discuss all services in the public health sector, including prevention, protection, health promotion, communicable diseases, non-communicable diseases, food safety and environmental health, with broad participation from all sectors of the country.

He added in a press statement today that the conference is scheduled to see participation of about 50 speakers locally, regional and international leaders of the Ministry of Public Health and other concerned ministries, medical and academic institutions as well as leading public health institutions in the world in addition to the presence of about 500 participants.

He noted that during the first Qatar Public Health Conference, major achievements in the field of public health over the past decade will be presented, and we look forward to cooperation among all partners to address public health challenges in the next decade.

The conference will review some 60 research abstracts from various health sector partners in the State of Qatar to build effective and long-term strategic partnerships.

The event also features a number of seminars, presentations, and workshops, which discuss various issues related to public health, with the participation of a selection of officials and local and international experts, as well as a poster exhibition with the participation of various stakeholders in the country.
