The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) released a directive on 7 August 2022 ordering practicing dentists in the private health sector to immediately stop the usage of nitrous oxide, also known as 'laughing gas', for patient treatments.
Nitrous oxide is a colorless non-flammable gas used for its anesthetic and pain-reducing effects.
MoPH confirms that this directive is part of the efforts of the Department of Health Professionals (DHP) to ensure the efficiency and eligibility of all health practitioners in Qatar.
The DHP, in accordance with the MoPH, urges all health facilities and health practitioners to comply immediately and affirms that non-compliance will be dealt with legal action.
