Ministry issues warning against consuming fresh enoki mushrooms imported from thailand

The Ministry of Public Health issued a warning on 8 June 2023 that the consumption of fresh enoki mushrooms from Thailand should be avoided as some packages that have been imported are possibly contaminated.

The contamination is caused by the pathogenic bacteria listeria monocytogenes based on results from the Ministry's Central Food Laboratories.

The Ministry of Public Health has collaborated with the Ministry of Municipality to withdraw the mushrooms from local markets.

The shipments received have been sent for laboratory tests and are being tracked to identify the cause of contamination.

Consumers have been urged to dispose of or return any packs of mushrooms that they may have purchased.

In addition, the ministry has informed consumers to observe for any symptoms such as vomiting, nausea or persistent fever, muscle pain or severe headaches and in such cases, they should get checked at the nearest health centre.
