A 17-year-old Tunisian boy died on Thursday evening after he fell from the fourth floor of a major shopping centre in the city. The boy was there idling away time with friends after school hours. The boy, whose name was given as Salim Yahbi, hit a skating rink on the ground floor of the shopping centre. He died having suffered fractures to the skull, backbone and in several other parts of the body. He was rushed to emergency medical care but was declared dead on arrival. A senior official of the Tunisian embassy here told a local Arabic daily that how the boy fell could not be known. The police have launched an investigation into the incident. The diplomat said he went to the accident and emergency unit of Hamad Medical Corporation after he heard of the tragic incident and later visited the Capital Police. “How the boy fell is not yet known,” he told the daily. The medical report is awaited. Video footage of the incident from the cameras installed at the shopping complex is being used to find out how the boy fell. The youth was studying in the French school here.
