How many times have you pulled up at a red light, glimpsed over at the car next to you and noticed the driver wasn’t wearing their seatbelt, or – more frighteningly, children climbing up and down all over the seats? Road accidents are one of the leading causes of death in Qatar; so in order to arrive alive, seatbelt safety is key. Thankfully, it’s as easy as making it click.

Just ask ConocoPhillips, as the U.S. energy and petrochemical giant has partnered with BMW Qatar to raise awareness on the importance of buckling up when hitting the road. As part of the ‘You Better Make It Click’ campaign, they’ll be giving away a top prize of a brand-new BMW 3 Series the for the lucky five finalists, drawn at random, who submit their best ‘buckled up’ photograph.

The purpose of the campaign is to raise awareness towards instilling a culture of driving safety as a part of our everyday lifestyle. You’ve probably even heard their radio jingle on the airwaves as you’re stuck in traffic. Composed by former Global Ambassador to Jazz at Lincoln Center Doha, Dominick Farinacci, the catchy tune was produced in association with 15 international artists from across the globe.

Hosted on Instagram, under the hashtag #Makeitclickqatar, the contest is running for another two weeks until December 31, 2016 and is open to all ages. Participating is as easy as taking a selfie as you buckle up in your parked car and uploading to Instagram using the campaign hashtag and tagging @makeitclickqatar.

But over here at ILQ we wanted to do something different and take it one step further to create our own informational video to show you why you don’t always need to wear your seatbelt – except when you’re in your car!

Give us a like and share, and tell us how you’re doing your part to make sure we’re all a little safer out there on the roads in the comment section below. And don’t forget to upload your own photo and let’s #Makeitclickqatar!
