World Stamp Exhibition 2013: Qatar club wins five medals

Qatar Philatelic and Numismatic Club secured five medals at World Stamp Exhibition in Bangkok, which is considered one of the largest in international level. Sixty-six countries took part in the exhibition and Qatari delegation included Vice Chairman of the club Hussain Rajab Al Ismail and board member Khalid Abdulla Al Hawli. Around 3,000 frames were showcased in the competitive categories and Qatar won two Large Vermeil medals for exhibits on Bahrain Postal History and Iraq in Occupation Era and three Vermeil medals for exhibits on Kuwait Postal History, Oman Postal History and Aden Postal History. This year’s event was hosted by Thailand and the exhibition will be held in Brazil next year. Thailand hosted the World Stamp Exhibition 2013 in support with Federation Internationale de Philatelie and Federation of Inter-Asian Philately to celebrate the 130th anniversary of the Thai postal service and first Thai postage stamps.
