In a Twitter post, the World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus expressed his appreciation to Qatar for facilitating the delivery of critical WHO health supplies to Kabul via Qatar Airways.

The essential medicines, surgery supplies, COVID-19 testing kits, and more will be distributed to 280 health facilities and 31 labs across Afghanistan.

WHO Afghanistan also tweeted:

Touchdown in Kabul: A @qatarairways flight donated by the government of the State of Qatar landed today carrying around 23 metric tonnes of life-saving medicines and supplies from @WHO.

It added:

The shipment is among the 1st humanitarian aid to arrive at #Kabul airport since 15 August. It will help @WHO to replenish depleted medical stocks and respond to urgent #health needs in #Afganistan.
