The Supreme Council of Health (SCH) will mark the World Day for Safety and Health at Work on June 12 by holding activities to raise safety awareness and health issues for workers at the Medical Commission.
The workers will get free medical check-ups and free medicines during the event. There will also be lectures in various languages to raise their awareness.
This year’s theme is: "Join in building a culture of prevention on Occupational Safety and Health (OSH)".
A number of organisations, dealing with OSH, will take part in the activities. They include the ministries of Interior and Labour and Social Affairs, Hamad Medical Corporation, Primary Health Care Corporation, Focus Qatar and Wellcare Group.
The activities aim to promote the workers and companies' culture of occupational safety and health, implement work organisation procedures and provide workers with training and information.
The event will also highlight the companies which adopt occupational safety and health management systems achieve better results than those that do not. The participating entities will also hold seminars to explain how to use portable fire extinguishers and how to administer first aid.
