Woqod has announced plans to expand its network of petrol stations in Doha and around the country. The petrol stations will include car service centres. Joining its four petrol stations already in operation will be six more under construction in Dafna, Markhiya, on the North Road and in Shahaniya, amongst other locations, which will be completed in the next few months. Mohamed Khalifa Turki Al Sobai, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Woqod, announced at a press meeting yesterday that the services of the Qatar Technical Inspection Company, which was taken over by Woqod, will be provided by Woqod Technical Inspection or ‘Fahas’. This entity, which is a new company with its own management but 100 percent owned by Woqod, is an integral part of Woqod’s customer care services. “Our strategy is to attach Fahas to our petrol stations to create service centres and we have already created two in Doha, now in service, including one next to the LuLu Hypermarket,” said Al Sobai, “Once we get the appropriate permission from the authorities, more will come that will be distributed both inside and outside Doha.” Al Sobai said Qatar may stop importing diesel fuel as soon as October, once a condensate refinery comes into operation. Producing approximately 25,000 barrels of diesel per day, the refinery in Ras Laffan will make government imports of diesel unnecessary. http://thepeninsulaqatar.com/Display_news.asp?section=Local_News&subsection=Qatar+News&month=August2009&file=Local_News2009082632721.xml
