The Traffic Department in association with the Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) and Qatargas has started distributing safety car seats for new born babies at Women’s Hospital. Awareness officer at the Department First Lieutenant Riyadh Ahmed said that this drive was aimed at creating awareness on child safety inside vehicles. He added that some parents make children sit in front seat or place them in the back seat without safety belt or seat. This will expose them to danger in case of an accident. Using the safety seats for children is a safer way to protect them. Statistics show that traffic accidents are less in developed countries as a result of awareness in using seat belts and placing child safety seats. The three types of baby safety seats include infant seats (until 1 year), toddler seat which is used until four years and booster seat which can be used once the child weighs 18kg until he reaches 36kg, explained the official http://www.thepeninsulaqatar.com/qatar/162484-womens-hospital-distributes-safety-car-seats-for-new-born-babies.html
