Al Sharq newspaper reported on 26 April 2022, that a woman was punished with a fine of QR 10,000 for an electronic crime committed by her. The Misdemeanors Court ordered the fine as the woman harassed the victim via WhatsApp.

The Cybercrime Law breached included Articles 8 and 53; plus Article 8. The mentioned Article 8 states that any person who infringes on any of the social principles or values, or publishes news, pictures, audio or video recordings related to the sanctity of the private or family life of people, even if true, or attacks others with insult or slander, through the information network or any information technology means.

Furthermore, Article 53 outlines that without prejudice to the rights of bona fide third parties, in all cases, in addition to the penalties stipulated in this law, the confiscation of devices, programs, or means used in committing any of the crimes stipulated in this law or the funds obtained from them shall also be ruled.

The laws of cybercrime have been made further strict and stringent due to the rising increase of misuse and exploitation of digital means to violate the law.
