The Al Sharq newspaper reported on 21 May 2022, the details of a lawsuit wherein a wife demanded a total amount of QR 230,000 to be paid by her husband.

The plaintiff, being the wife has filed a lawsuit in the family court, where she had requested for the court to obligate her husband to pay an amount of QR 150,000 for necessary expenses and an amount of QR 80,000 for pleasure expenses. Furthermore, she requested the custody of their child along with all of the child's financial expenses to be taken up by the husband.

As per the article, the cause of the lawsuit filing was that the husband mistreated her and did not provide for her despite being under the marriage contract and the mother of his child.

The defendant, being the husband submitted the official divorce document and was also informed of no dispute between both the parties concerning the document.

It is indicated in the Family Code, Article 101 that the separation of spouses is a divorce that is done by the will of the husband; which in this case was done and proven along with the official document.

The requests made by the plaintiff are limited to legitimate financial rights, custody, and related expenses.

Prompt justice and litigation on both parties is what is aimed for by the specific jurisdiction of the public order. The case gets considered in a way to ensure equality between all litigants in resorting to the same degree of litigation.
