Have you ever looked around you and wondered why every other car in Qatar is white or in a shade of white?

If this question has ever crossed your mind, then you are at the right place. Let’s talk about cars in Qatar and the reason why there are more white cars in Qatar than any other colour.

1. Cooler when hot

Qatar is a hot country where the temperatures may reach the late 40s in the summer months. The no.1 reason why people here prefer white cars is because the white colour reflects heat from the sun, while darker coloured cars absorb more heat. This reflection of heat keeps the car cooler from the inside when the temperature is hot from the outside.

2. Cheaper to buy

Coloured cars have a somewhat higher premium as compared to white or light coloured cars

Since white is the base colour of all cars in general, white cars are usually available to buy at no extra cost because many car manufacturers sell white cars at a no-extra-cost option, whereas more often than not, coloured cars are a little more expensive.

3. Easier to sell

White or light coloured cars sell better than coloured cars because white is one of the most popular colours in the market and is in high demand by customers wanting used cars. They are also easier to maintain because small dents and scratches are easier to remove.

4. Simpler to repair

White cars are easier to maintain than coloured cars. They are comparatively low maintenance because when there any scratches, dents or damage to the exterior of a white car, the cost of repainting it is reasonable because white is the base colour for all cars even if they are different colours. This means that you will only be paying for one paint coat rather than for two or more which is the requirement for coloured cars.

5. Easier to maintain

White cars don’t look as dirty as coloured cars do when they have dust on them; so they don’t need to be cleaned as often as coloured cars especially those that are dark in colour, especially black.

6. Protected with Titanium Dioxide

White paint contains a pigment called Titanium Dioxide which is durable and protects surfaces from cracks and colour fading.

Fun fact

Perhaps, the best reason why there are so many white cars in Qatar is because, apparently, 48% of all cars imported from Asia, especially Japan, are white in colour.
