Wheels ‘n’ Heels family fun day today

Families from across Qatar have the opportunity to enjoy a day of free entertainment at the 5th Wheels ‘n’ Heels Family Fun Day today at the Museum of Islamic Art Park from 2pm to 10pm. The event is organised by Qatar’s leading education and humanitarian NGO Reach Out To Asia (Rota), under the auspices of HE Sheikha Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani. Performances by singers Hala al-Turk, Diana Karzon, Fayez al-Said and Ali Abdulsatar, action zones offering fun and games for the whole family and a chance to register for Porsche Kids Driving School are among the highlights. The fun starts 2pm as the Wheels ‘n’ Heels Action Zones burst into life. Interactive arts and learning activities are provided by Children’s Cultural Centre space. The other attractions include skills based competitions, bouncy castle and stilt walkers. The popular children’s entertainer Baba Langa will ensure the kids are enjoying themselves at the event. There is a Clown Show (2.10pm) followed by a Jugglers Show (3.15pm) and an entertainment show (3.35pm). A Balloons & Bubble Show will take place at 7.20pm. Celebrating the 40th anniversary of Qatar-Japanese relations there is a special Japanese drums performance by students of the Japan School of Doha. This will be followed by a traditional Soran dance performance (5.15pm) by 40 students who are travelling to Doha for the event. While a total of 100 children will win places in the Porsche Kids Driving School, those who register can get caps and child safety booklets on a first come basis. Sports fans can join Olympic heroines Nada Zeidan, Rania Elwani and 20 top Qatar Stars League players at Wheels ‘n’ Heels circuit, while young ones will be inspired by Ghanem al-Muftah and enjoy meeting popular Jazeera Children’s Channel presenters Gretta al-Rayes and Said Sarhan, Masters of Ceremonies at the event. At the Health & Safety Zone, Civil Defence volunteers will be teaching the importance of safety, while Child Culture Centre and Qatar Diabetes Centre staff will provide free health advice and checks. The finale of the Tour of Qatar will take place at 4pm, supported by Wheels’n Heels strategic partner Qatar Cycling Federation. The Qtel sponsored Wheels ‘n’ Heels Circuit (4.35pm) will see thousands jog, cycle, skateboard or walk the circuit to raise funds for Rota’s local and international education projects. The launch of the official Doha 2020 Olympic Logo and Slogan will take place on the Wheels ‘n’ Heels Stage at 5.45pm. The Arabs Got Talent singing sensation Hala al-Turk will perform at 6.45pm and 7.20pm. Rota Brand Ambassador Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulla al-Thani will speak at 7.10pm. A jazz concert (8.15pm), performances from UAE singer Fayez al-Said and Qatari singer Ali Abdulsatar and an acrobat show (8.45pm), performance by Jordanian music sensation, television host and actress Diana Karazon (9.10pm) are the other programmes. Gulf Times
