On the night from the 25 to 26 December, our former Emir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, had been flown to Zurich-Kloten airport, where several aircrafts were permitted unscheduled emergency landing by the Swiss air force. The planes were part of the Qatari royal fleet and had been as many as 9 planes. As night landings are usually forbidden to not disturb the residents, special clearance had to be given.

On a holiday at a resort in Morocco in the Atlas Mountains, so the Guardian, Sheikh Hamad broke his leg and was flown to Switzerland for surgery followed by other members of the Royal Family in Qatar in the jets.

The Government did not specify where and how Sheikh Hamad broke his leg, but he is now in Zurich recovering and undergoing physiotherapy. And that is reassuring!

The first plane, an Airbus arrived in Zurich from Marrakesh around midnight and two more planes landed in the early morning from Doha. The medical emergency was very significant, according to Swiss newspaper Tages Anzeiger, that half a dozen more planes arrived linked to the Royal family and government.

Now we hope that recovery isn’t far from now, and that together with the support of his Highness’ family, Sheikh Hamad will be of better health quickly. Stay strong and get better soon!
