The weather bureau yesterday warned of hotter days ahead and said day temperatures could soar by over four to seven degrees Celsius from today until Friday.

In Doha, temperatures could rise to between 36 and 39 degrees Celsius in the above period and more in central and western areas of the country. According to the weather bureau, a sudden rise in temperature is expected due to extension of Sudan thermal depression to this area.

The hottest days in the week are expected to be Thursday and Friday with the wind direction most of the days being southeasterly to southwesterly of light to moderate speed.

The sea will be suitable for sail on all these days. However, the weather would likely take a sudden turn from Friday evening as the country will be affected by a ridge of high pressure extending from the north of Saudi Arabia.

The phenomenon will be associated with fresh to strong wind movement, so sea-goers are warned to be careful as wind could gather speed of up to 27 to 37 knots an hour (50km to 68.5km an hour). Waves could be as high as six to nine to 12 feet.

High winds might kick up dust in their wake affecting visibility. The windy and dusty conditions would likely continue until April 27.
