A total of 234 candidates are competing to win 30 of the 45 seats of the Shura Council.
Spread over various regions of the country, 30 electoral districts started to mark Qatari citizens turning up to participate in this democratic event, amid the COVID-19 precautionary measures followed in the country.
The total number of candidates who waived their nomination reached 50 in the last days of the waiver period specified by the Ministry of Interior, making the total number of contenders for the Shura Council 234, after 284 candidates were registered.
