Spread over various regions of the country, 30 electoral districts started to mark Qatari citizens turning up to participate in this democratic event, amid the COVID-19 precautionary measures followed in the country.

The total number of candidates who waived their nomination reached 50 in the last days of the waiver period specified by the Ministry of Interior, making the total number of contenders for the Shura Council 234, after 284 candidates were registered.

The polls close at 6:00 pm, and the results will be announced later in the day. Candidates who gain the relative majority of eligible votes will be elected to the Shura Council, and in the case when two or more candidates have an equal number of votes, the head of the electoral committee could then cast his vote to decide the winner.
