In line with its commitment to support entrepreneurial tutoring endeavours, Vodafone staff recently volunteered for INJAZQatar to take a number of students through a job shadowing programme.
Rita El-Helou, Susan Winfield, Yaman Al-Jundi, Shahzad Khan, Asim Mirza, Ola Youssef, Javed Qureshi, Zeena Abu-Issa and Javeria Masrour met with the students to share with them first-hand insights into the corporate world and talk to them about their experiences in the workplace in addition to providing them coaching and mentoring around what they aspire to build and achieve in the future.
The sessions started with an introduction to Vodafone, taking the students through The Vodafone Way and values. The sessions also included a short workshop on communication skills.
Kariman Mahmoud, INJAZQatar Programs and Operations Director, said: “On behalf of Injaz Qatar I would like to take this opportunity to thank Vodafone for allowing Injaz youth to take part in its Job shadowing initiative. Thanks to all Vodafone employees for their hospitality and hard work, Injaz students have experienced a work atmosphere incomparable to any they have experienced before. This experience was both informative and fun, both key components made Injaz student time there well spent.”
Haeefa Al-Malki, Qatarisation Manager at Vodafone Qatar, said: “We’re proud to partner with INJAZQatar to reach out to the students and contribute to their learning journey with real work life insights, tips and advice. Supporting such initiatives is at the forefront of our priorities as we firmly believe in our role and commitment to lead in knowledge sharing and truly contribute to the development of the youth.”
Al-Malki continued: “The shadowing job day for each group of students was full of learnings where they got to observe the daily work of our hosts involving a range of activities such as meetings and observing employees’ interactions. It was truly a great opportunity for the students to explore their future career.”
Students joining Vodafone’s Job Shadowing Day said: “The best thing about this programme was the opportunity to link the theoretical part with the practical part in the work environment. We loved the working environment at Vodafone and how the employees interact with each other and they were all very helpful and supportive. It was great to have had the chance to talk with experienced professionals and set our expectations for the future career. The multi-culture environment attracted us and we would love to be part of it.”
