VODAFONE CEO Grahame Maher is looking forward to “breaking into the new market in Qatar”, and said that the establishment of the network provider here will lead to further growth throughout the Gulf region. Maher was speaking to Gulf Times on the sidelines of the company’s first public event at Villagio yesterday evening, where he declared himself thrilled with the “absolutely fantastic response” the event had received. He explained that his company would aim to bring “a world of change, to benefit all the people of Qatar,” and claimed that the experience of working in markets throughout the world would help achieve this. “One of our major benefits is that we have experience of working for industrial markets such as China and India, as well as more business-minded markets such as France and the UK,” he said, adding “so we can cater to different communities and a wide range of people”. Maher expressed his excitement at the impending launch of the network on March 1, and explained that the launch of a fixed and mobile network at the same time is an international first for the company. “This is a first for Vodafone, and we are excited to be partnering with Qatar and moving towards developing better solutions for our customers in the future,” he added. http://gulf-times.com/site/topics/article.asp?cu_no=2&item_no=260570&version=1&template_id=36&parent_id=16
