Vodafone launches pre-paid BlackBerry service for QR49

DOHA: Vodafone Qatar has brought down the Red pre-paid plan on BlackBerry service to just QR49 a month from today considered as the lowest rate being offered to the popular smart phone brand in the Gulf region. John Saad, Chief Marketing Officer at Vodafone Qatar, said the new rate for BlackBerry service rate is actually a huge cut of more than a half from what used to be QR125 a month for Freedom plan. The new pre-paid plan offer applies to both Vodafone Red and Freedom customers who sign up before October 31 this year with a guarantee that this rate will stay for 10 years. “Vodafone understands how passionate people in Qatar about their BlackBerry. Vodafone has had BlackBerry for Account customers for more than a year and we’re now delighted to offer this service on prepay with such mega value and one of the lowest in the region,” Saad said. With the lowest rate comes along with the 300MB free data each month for local BlackBerry traffic which can be used for BBM, surfing the net, emails or social networking. Streaming traffic will be charge at the lowest rate in at 49 dirhams per MB. “Now everyone in Qatar can afford and enjoy all the joys of Blackberry with the Vodafone offer,” said Maha Al Obaidan, Marketing Communications Specialist at Vodafone Qatar. To sign up, new customers will need to get a Vodafone SIM and BlackBerry Service. This can be done at Vodafone’s retail stores, online at www.vodafone.com.qa or at selected Vodafone partner stores. Existing Vodafone customers with a BlackBerry handset can get Blackberry Service by sending ‘BB’ in an SMS to 97228 from their Vodafone number which will be activated automatically within 24 hours.
