Vodafone Qatar will start offering Internet services soon and launch new price offers for its customers in June, Grahame Maher, chief executive officer of Vodafone Qatar, said yesterday. “We’ve had good feedback with our services so far…. Some of our shareholders have already received their numbers… We will launch new price offers this June… Internet connection is coming soon… We will have a lot of firsts this year,” said Maher during celebrations marking the graduation of Vodafone’s trainees at the Doha Ritz-Carlton. After five months of intensive training on how to handle customer calls, network and data knowledge, payment processing, complaints handling and system training, 250 Vodafone Qatar staff members from the Customer Care and Retail departments were given their graduation certificates. Experienced Vodafone trainers from abroad were asked to train the multicultural Vodafone Qatar team, which includes Qataris, Sri Lankans, Indians, Filipinos, Egyptians, Somalis, Lebanese, Sudanese, Jordanians and Omanis. The event included a “staff day” meeting, where the employees were walked through the company’s values, vision and mission; and a “Bye Bye Qtel, Hello Vodafone” activity where the 250 staff members their Qatar Telecom (Qtel) SIM cards to balloons, which they let off right after. “Vodafone is live and we have started to welcome all our customers, thanks to you,” Maher told the Vodafone Qatar team, and thanked the team’s families as well as Vodafone’s business partners for their support and hard work as the company continues to build the organisation. Maher said he was very pleased to know that Vodafone Qatar’s website gets around 8,000 visitors per day and it gets around 2,000 calls daily at its call centre. According to him, Vodafone Qatar customers have now been using their numbers for international roaming as well as Vodafone’s other services. “We will be offering more promotions and services this year as we continue building our network… We will provide more value than Qtel,” Maher said. http://thepeninsulaqatar.com/Display_news.asp?section=Local_News&subsection=Qatar+News&month=May2009&file=Local_News2009052232058.xml
