Vodafone Qatar celebrated Qatar’s National Day with five Qatari schools through a creative arts competition entitled “Qatar National Day through my eyes”. Students – boys and girls - aged between five and 17, from five Qatari schools participated in the competition, which was spearheaded with Vodafone’s Qatari Women’s Community Sales Team “Al Johara”. The competition required the students to produce artwork – through models, paintings, and photography – that represent what Qatar National Day meant to them. The schools that participated in the competition were Al Shayma Independent High School for Girls, the Gulf Independent Primary School for Boys, the Royal International School, Al Abib Independent Primary School for Girls, and Al Bayan Independent High School for Girls. The competition entries were judged by a committee from the schools and Vodafone. The best student artwork from each of the five participating schools were announced at the individual school’s Qatar National Day celebrations on December 17 and 19. The prizes were awarded to the winners in the presence of the parents, school administrators and art teachers. The five winners were Amna Khan (of Al Bayan Independent High School for Girls), Lulwa Khan (of Al Abib Independent Primary School for Girls), Sandy (of the Royal International School), Abu Baker Mohamed (of the Gulf Independent Primary School for Boys), and Hissa al-Hail (of Al Shayma Independent High School for Girls). “This is the third year that Vodafone has run this competition, aiming to enhance national pride among students and allowing them to express what Qatar National Day means to them. “Vodafone enjoys being a part of the National Day celebrations. We are proud to support the students as they demonstrate how they feel about Qatar and its heritage and we are always impressed by the innovation and quality of their work. “We would like to seize this opportunity to congratulate HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani, the government and all the people of Qatar on this occasion, wishing the country endless safety and prosperity,” said Vodafone Qatar Al Johara head Susie Kelt.
