Vodafone announces plans for Ramadan

Vodafone Qatar has announced its plans for the holy month of Ramadan. It will include a number of activities aimed at recognising “the spiritual, charitable and family aspects of Ramadan”, according to a spokesperson. The network will again offer free daily prayer time information by SMS, which customers can receive in either English or Arabic. To receive the notifications, customers should send an SMS containing either the word ‘ENGLISH’ or ‘ARABIC,’ to the number 97220. Prayer times can also be accessed via Vodafone’s pocket-sized Ramadan calendars at stores and partner outlets, as well as for free on customer mobiles at The company is also supporting a number of initiatives by Qatar Charity, and is sponsoring Iftar tents in Doha and Al Khor. To help motorists break their fast, Vodafone Qatar will be distributing free Iftar boxes containing dates and water, and they will also be hosting their Ramadan tent at the W Hotel for the second year running. The network provider is also offering a number of calling offers this month, including the ‘Ajeeb’ offer, which offers customers up to 15 hours of free calls to other Vodafone customers. “Until the end of August, customers can enjoy ‘Super Sundays’. You can call anywhere in the world every Sunday for only 55 Dirhams a minute,” said a spokesperson. “As part of the GCC promotion, customers calling Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, UAE and Bahrain pay only 69 Dirhams a minute.” CEO of Vodafone Qatar, Grahame Maher said: “The Vodafone team would like to wish everyone a blessed Ramadan. This is a special time for people in Qatar and millions of people around the world, and we hope that our services and activities will make it that extra special for many people.” He added that Vodafone will be announcing several other promotions and new services during Ramadan.
