Vodafone sent out a warning to the public against agents illegally representing Vodafone and claiming to have Vodafone Star Numbers. “Vodafone would like to warn the public that these people are fraudulent,” a Vodafone spokesperson stated. At present, the statement said, the only way to reserve a Vodafone Star Number is at Vodafone’s Star Numbers event on March 1. Vodafone will auction off the reservation rights to 40 of “their most desirable numbers – star numbers” when they turn on their network on March 1. The auction, which will be at the Sharq Village and Spa, will start at 7pm. According to the Vodafone spokesperson, only 500 tickets are available for the event. Tickets, which were sold starting February 15, cost QR2,000. The auction will be conducted by Sotheby’s and proceeds from the event will go to Reach Out to Asia. http://thepeninsulaqatar.com/Display_news.asp?section=Local_News&subsection=Qatar+News&month=February2009&file=Local_News200902186489.xml
