The Virgin Megastore recently launched the Give Peace a Chance programme, an initiative aimed at collecting donations to support the children of Gaza. The campaign is applicable to both Virgin Megastore outlets here where the stores will display books about world history and conflict for the month of February and a percentage of the revenue from the displayed books will be donated to the Red Crescent for their Gaza aid programme. “There are many ways of contributing to the Gaza humanitarian cause, and we’ve chosen to focus on educating people about the wars of the world to highlight this recent conflict and give people a chance to understand more about it. We’re working closely with the Red Crescent to ensure that the proceeds are well-directed,” said Elie El Massih, head of marketing, Virgin Megastore. Book titles to be displayed include: Brief History of the Middle East by Robert Fisk; Palestine-Israeli Conflict: A Beginners Guide by Sherbok Dan Cohn; History of the Arab Peoples by Hourani Albert; and Israel Lobby and US Foreign Policy by John J. Mearsheimer.
