Virginia Commonwealth University in Qatar (VCU-Q) is starting this season’s community classes in October, with course offerings set to include classes in different art and design areas taught by local and international instructors.
Over the summer the university offered classes for students aged 9 to 17 which were extremely well attended. The current set of classes features the hugely popular Adobe package, as well as classes in silver jewellery, oil painting basics, photography, ceramics, graphic design principles, traditional Indian art and print media design, among others. Textile printing design and tie and dye technique are some of the classes offered in Arabic.
“VCU-Q’s community classes are an excellent way to deepen existing skills, develop new abilities, or discover hidden talents,” said executive director of communications at VCU-Q, Meike Kaan. “We intend for our programmes to provide educational, cultural and art and design opportunities to a wide range of communities in Qatar.”
Classes begin mid to late October and finish by December 21. All classes are open to both women and men, and unless otherwise noted are taught in English at the VCU-Q building located within the Education City campus.
