Get vaccinated for both influenza and coronavirus, HMC urges public

In a video tweet from the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH), HMC Medical Director of the Communicable Disease Center Dr. Muna Al Maslamani urged people to receive both the flu and the COVID-19 vaccines. Dr. Al Maslamani affirmed that it's safe and effective for people to have both the flu shot and COVID-19 vaccine at the same time.

COVID-19 and Influenza are both contagious respiratory illnesses and lead to similar symptoms but they are caused by different viruses. It's very important for people to understand that the flu vaccine does not protect you from COVID-19 and the COVID-19 vaccine does not protect you from a flu disease.
We strongly urge people to receive both - the flu and the COVID-19 vaccines. It's safe and effective for people to have both the flu shot and COVID-19 vaccine at the same time.

The MoPH has reminded the public that the annual seasonal flu vaccine is the best and safest way to reduce the chances of catching the flu and potentially spreading it to others.

The flu vaccine is available for free across all 27 primary health centers, and at many private and semi-governmental health centers.
