United Development Company (UDC) has been awarded the ‘Qatar Today Green Organisation Award’ for its work on protection and preservation of the environment in Qatar. The award was received by Peter Bolten, manager of UDC’s Environmental Affairs Department and Kate Fletcher, environmental awareness specialist. Bolten said, “It is an honour to be awarded with the ‘Qatar Today Green Organisation Award’ and it is rewarding for UDC to be recognised for its continued efforts to help protect the environment here in Qatar. We feel that events such as this will help to encourage positive environmental behaviour amongst others, both in the corporate world and among the general public.” The Qatar Today Green Awards is the first of its kind in Qatar. It was conceived and created in 2008 to raise eco-consciousness among Qatari citizens and residents. And its ultimate aim is to increase awareness and motivate behavioural change in relation to the protection and preservation of environment. “The actual award itself is a certificate made from green recycled paper with gold text in a recycled wooden frame,” UDC said. http://www.gulf-times.com/site/topics/article.asp?cu_no=2&item_no=320813&version=1&template_id=36&parent_id=16
