Qatar’s social enterprise, The Youth Company plans to connect at least eight high profile speakers under one roof to tackle various eco related issues on World Environment Day at the HBKU Student Center, Education City, Qatar Foundation. Speakers will present and discuss policy developments in order to address environmental issues in Qatar. More than 200 University students with Engineering, Technology and Environmental Sciences majors are expected to attend the Talk Dirty Environment & Sustainability Forum which is themed “Building a Sustainable Country”.

In light of recent reports from the World Health Organisation, Doha is billed as the 12th most polluted city in the world with reference to PM 2.5 concentrations in the air. The Youth Company Chairman, Mohamed Farid has decided to launch Talk Dirty Environment & Sustainability Forum on World Environment Day, bringing together government officials, corporations and future generation of youth to discuss innovative solutions to tackle environmental issues in Qatar. Speakers include Aurora M. Castilla from the Ministry of Environment and Qatar Foundation , Yvette Eechoud Dutch ambassador to Qatar, Chief Guest H.E. Dr. Faleh Bin Nasser Al-Thani – under-secretary for Agricultural Researches & Development from Ministry of Environment and Mohamed Ayoub, Research Program Manager at Qatar Environment & Energy Research Institute amongst others.

“Finding solutions for environmental problems that we are facing have become very important and we will be leaving no stone unturned at the forum which is directed at the rate pollution that fills the cities in particular. The outcome of this event will certainly create lasting solutions to these turbid issues”, said Mohamed Farid, Chairman and Founder of The Youth Company.

These problems such as air pollution and hazardous waste, caused by the increased road congestion and construction projects pose major threats to human safety, health and productivity. Due to these threats to human future, it is now essential to address these problems. Organizers of the forum claim active youth involvement and engagement in resourceful events of this kind will foster public awareness and participation.

The Talk Dirty Environment & Sustainability Forum is in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030. Many organizations have partnered with TYC for the forum including Engineers Without Borders, Society of Women Engineers, Red Apple Events, W Hotels, Al – Abdulla Group Enterprise, iloveqatar.net, Campus magazine, Qatar Today, BEX and Amwaj Catering.

“We are honored to have been able to work-out this initiative with the energetic and supportive teams, and we look forward to taking things to the next level. We are also calling out to more organization to support our environmental initiative.” – Mohamed added.

Following the #TalkDirtyQA event, TYC is planning a year filled up with activities including the annual My Qatar youth conference in September, to discuss the raising issues in Qatar, and how to come up with grass-rooted solutions to solve the issues. Four distinct projects are expected be generated from the 2-day eco conference.
