The GCC Water Science & Technology Association (WSTA) has elected Abdurrahman al-Mahmood, from Hassad Qatar company, as Vice-President of the board of Directors, and Hamad Rashid Al Kuwari, the Director of Public Relations at the Public Works Authority (Ashghal), as a member.
The election came during the WSTA meeting in Manama which was held to discuss a number of issues including the election of board members. The election of two Qatari members in the Water Science & Technology Association Board of Directors came to enhance Qatar’s role and its contributions to the institutions and non-governmental organisations for their significant role in the water sector.
The concept of formation of Water Sciences and Technology Association (WSTA) was the result of individual efforts of some of those concerned with water affairs in the GulfCooperation Council Countries (GCC).
The Government of Bahrain consented to register the Association in Bahrain, and the Association was formally founded in September 1987, to be the first scientific association in the field of water sciences and technology in the Arabian Gulf region.
The WSTA is a non-governmental body and its WSTA membership is open to all water professionals in the GCC, water-related national and international organisations, educational institutes, consultants, and companies.
