Two-day workshop on human rights begins today

A two-day regional workshop on “Human Rights in the sequence of Countering Terrorism” will begin today at Intercontinental Doha. The workshop is held under the patronage of H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, Minister of State for Interior Affairs and Chairman of the Counter-Terrorism National Committee, which organised the workshop in conjunction with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). Experts and representatives of regional and international organisations are attending the function. Colonel Nasser Yousuf Al Mal, National Coordinator and member of the Counter-Terrorism National Committee, stated that the workshop aims at discussing the legal framework applied internationally for countering terrorism and respecting human rights, further stimulate the tools of strengthening international cooperation in the sequence of respecting human rights. Al Mal pointed out that experts from UNODC, UN Commission for Human Rights, Human Rights Council and International Committee for Red Cross and representatives of concerned committee in the Security Council will attend the workshop. On the other hand, the fifth course on Airport and Seaports Security for junior officers and police staff was kicked off at conference hall of the Capital Security Department yesterday.
