The Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) has set up two clinics offering tests for women to detect breast cancer and other abnormalities. The facilities are open for Qatari and non-Qatari women aged above 40 years. The tests can be availed of through a referral from the primary health centres or a private clinic. Individuals can also book appointments directly. The evening clinic functioning the at Women's Hospital is offering free preliminary tests two days a week — on Sunday and Tuesday — from 5pm to 9pm. Appointments can be made by calling 4397828 during office working hours (from 7 am to 3pm). The morning clinic at the Hamad General Hospital Outpatient Department offers clinical tests for women with breast abnormalities. The service of a surgeon is available at the clinic that functions on every Tuesday from 8am to 12pm. Women can seek appointments by calling 4391194 or 4391195 during the office working hours. HMC is planning to set up more 'breast care" clinics by September, it was disclosed at a press conference yesterday.
