Turkish Airlines recorded USD 8.054 billion sales revenue and USD 877 million of net profit in the first nine months of 2015

•Airline reports 4.6 per cent growth in passengers carried from Qatar during the same period

Turkish Airlines nine months 2015 consolidated financial statements were reported to Borsa Istanbul. According to the audited IFRS USD financial statements, compared to the same period of 2014, Turkish Airlines sales revenue decreased by 6 percent and stood at USD 8 billion 54 million. Turkish Airlines disclosed an operating profit of USD 1 billion 27 million and a net profit of USD 877 million, outperforming the first nine months of 2014 by 29 percent and 21 percent respectively.

Pointing to the operational cash generation ability, Turkish Airlines EBITDA margin for the nine months of 2015 increased 5.5 percentage points and stood at 26.2 percent. With these financial results the company strengthened its place among the most profitable airlines in the world.

In the first nine months of 2015 Turkish Airlines realised a capacity increase of 12.6 percent (available seat km) and carried 46.5 milllion passengers on its 341,000 flights with a load factor of 79 percent.

During the period between January-September 2015 capacity offered in Qatar in terms of Available Seat Kilometres grew by 3.8% compared to the same period of 2014. Number of passengers carried increased by 4.6% to reach close to 100 thousand. Business/Comfort Class passengers increased by 24.5% for the same period and load factors also improved.

Turkish Airlines have also started operations for cargo flights from Istanbul to Doha on the A330F. The service started on October 31, 2015 and will run till March 26, 2016 on Saturdays.

Turkish Airlines is currently running a promotion from Doha for Europe’s top destinations with fares starting at QAR 1970, including taxes. The airline is operating 14 flights from Doha to Istanbul per week this winter, an increase of 40% as compared to the same period in 2014.

A new daily nonstop service between Atlanta and Istanbul will also launch on May 16, 2016 and be operated using the airline’s Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. The city of Atlanta will also become the 13th destination in the Americas for Turkish Airlines, the airline which travels to the most number of countries in the world.

Selected the “Best Airline in Europe” for the fifth time in a row, today Turkish Airlines flies to 48 domestic and 232 international destinations, a total of 280 destinations in 111 countries including new routes inaugurated in 2015 such as San Francisco, Miami, Maputo, Durban, Baghdad, Graz, and Manila. From December Turkish Airlines will launch flights to Mauritius, Antananarivo and Zaporijya.

Having one of the youngest airline fleet in the world Turkish Airlines now operates 298 aircraft comprising 72 wide body, 216 narrow body and 10 cargo aircraft.

Despite strong competitive environment among the world’s leading players, the political and economical instabilities over its operating environment and significant currency fluctuations, Turkish Airlines continues to post successful and sustainable results.
