Due to heavy passenger traffic expected at the Doha International Airport (DIA) during the forthcoming summer holidays, passengers travelling at peak hours have been advised to arrive at the airport at least four hours before their flight to avoid unnecessary delays. With schools starting to close for the summer holidays, the airport anticipates a very busy turnout over the next few weeks. Passengers flying with Qatar Airways will depart from Terminal A. Those flying with one of over 25 international airlines will depart from Terminal B. The peak times for Terminal A are as follows: Morning: 0500hrs – 0900 hrs, Afternoon: 1800hrs – 2030 hrs, Evening: 2230hrs – 0130 hrs The peak times for Terminal B are as follows: Morning: 0700hrs – 0930hrs, Afternoon: 1600hrs – 1800hrs, Evening: 1900hrs – 2300hrs. The airport will have additional staff in the departures and arrival terminals and open more check-in counters to reduce queues, ensuring passengers continue to enjoy a pleasant experience at the airport. To reduce traffic congestion and delays for passengers in front of the departures and arrival terminals, visitors have been advised to park in the short-term car park. Passengers are also encouraged to use the online check-in facility provided by Qatar Airways and most other airlines before departing for the airport. The Internet check-in service enables passengers to check-in between 24 and 48 hours prior to their scheduled flight departure time depending on the airline. Check-in can be done at home, office or anywhere through their mobile devices. Passengers can also print their boarding passes before arriving at the airport to reduce their check-in time upon arrival. There are three airport lounges for passengers to use at DIA. Two lounges are for Qatar Airways’ Privilege Club frequent flyer members and the Oryx lounge is for passengers travelling First or Business Class with any airline. Entrance to the Oryx lounge is also available to Economy Class passengers at a charge of QR140 per person. DIA catered to more than 21 million passengers during 2012- an increase of 16.87 percent compared to 2011 and the number of passengers are expected to grow significantly this year.
