Traffic police, Qatalum talk over road safety norms

A MEETING was held between Qatar Aluminium (Qatalum) and the Police and Traffic Department of the Ministry of Interior (MoI) to explore the co-operation and interfaces of both organisations. It was organised in an effort to enhance mutual co-operation between various government ministries and the heavy industries in Qatar. Different issues were discussed by both parties, including how new employees need to drive light and heavy vehicles on site and on the public roads according to the existing and new regulations. Qatalum is a joint venture between Qatar Petroleum and Norsk Hydro of Norway. From the Police and Traffic Department, director Brig Mohamed al-Kharji, Road and Accidents Department head Brig Mohamed al-Malki, and National Traffic Campaign member Ibrahim Al Nesser were present, while Qatalum chairman Truls Gautesen and deputy chairman Hassan al-Rashid were present. http://www.gulf-times.com/site/topics/article.asp?cu_no=2&item_no=265749&version=1&template_id=36&parent_id=16
