The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has announced a traffic diversion on Dukhan Road between the existing interchanges at Al Wajba and Al Shahaniya heading to Dukhan from tomorrow. There will also be another diversion on the same road in the direction heading to Doha starting from June 2, said Ashghal. The diversion (road) in the direction of Dukhan covers a distance of approximately 6km opposite the Umm Al Afaei Petrol Station, while the diversion in the direction of Doha will be stretched over a distance of approximately 2km (as shown in the illustration). The two diversions will remain in service for the coming nine months as part of construction works on the Dukhan Road between Rayyan Stadium Roundabout and Al Shahaniyya Interchange. Ashghal has advised motorists to abide by the speed limit of 80 km/hour on the two diversions, Speed cameras will be operational on both roads. Ashghal has also announced that the two ramps (B) and (C) connecting Al Huwaila Link road to Al Shamal Road will reopen by the second quarter of 2015. The closure which took effect on May 18, is part of the foundation work at Al Huwaila Interchange area and the construction of a Directional Link. The fast lane of Al Shamal Road will be closed so that equipment and workers can have access to the central median. During this period, the North Road can be accessed through some alternative roads. Ashghal said the works were part of the North Road Enhancements project which will cover 95.2km in total length. The project includes the construction of service roads along the North Road corridor starting from Al Duhail Interchange all the way to the city of Al Shamal in the north of Qatar.
