The Traffic Department has launched the second phase of its campaign “Schools free from accidents”. The campaign aims to spread traffic awareness among school students. Brig Muhammed Saad al-Kharji, director of Traffic Department, and several other officers attended the function. “The launch of this campaign comes in the framework of department’s continuous attempt to raise the standard of general traffic awareness among the public and the youths in particular. It is a part of the strategy for National Campaign for Road Accidents Prevention for spreading awareness, to achieve road safety and to protect the lives and properties of the citizens and expatriates as well,” Brig Al-Kharji said. He mentioned that the first phase of the campaign launched in February, comprised various activities like organising lectures for students, paying visits to schools and student visits to the traffic department to get acquainted with its functioning, services and duties. “About 16 schools are participating in a traffic contest, initiated to reflect the activities of the second phase of the campaign,” Al-Kharji added. http://gulf-times.com/site/topics/article.asp?cu_no=2&item_no=282668&version=1&template_id=36&parent_id=16
