The Second Qatar International Exhibition for Tower Building Technologies (TowerTech 2009) opened yesterday at the Qatar International Exhibition Centre with nearly a hundred exhibitors participating mostly from Qatar showing the Qatari economy’s strength amid global crisis. “This exhibition is something that we are proud of. Qatar is a strong economy and Doha is the right place for such an exhibition,” said H E Mohamed bin Saleh Al Sada, Minister of State for Energy and Industry Affairs, as he toured the stalls after opening the exhibition. Al Sada expressed satisfaction on the event, which according to him would ‘see the major stakeholders in this sector interact and cooperate with each other as they discuss latest developments in the field of building and construction.’ “This year’s exhibition is definitely bigger than the previous one,” said an official of Qatar Line, one of the pioneering corporations providing low currant and security systems in Qatar. Participating for the second time in the exhibition, the manager of MZ and Partners Architectural and Engineering Consultancy, who cited the famous Zig-Zag Tower as one of their biggest projects, was optimistic on the prospect of the tower industry as economies are picking up. “We specialise in towers and high-rise buildings, industrial projects, infrastructure, urban planning, all kinds of engineering projects and we’re here to tell people what we can do, providing best services to contracting companies,” said Fawzi Mohd. Ismail, General Manager, MZ and Partners. A wide range of state-of-the-art products and services, are available at the expo such as innovative entertainment solutions by Televes, a Spanish company which has been in Qatar for over a decade now. An international leading trade fair, the four-day TowerTech 2009 also saw the presence of Chicago-based Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat. Organised by Economic Group, the exhibition was sponsored by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy and Industry, H E Abdullah bin Hamad Al Attiyah, and by the Federation of GCC Chambers and Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry. http://thepeninsulaqatar.com/Display_news.asp?section=Local_News&subsection=Qatar+News&month=October2009&file=Local_News200910131037.xml
