Three of the best and most popular Filipino singers will serenade and rock Qatar on April 4 and 5 at Regency Halls and Qube at Radisson Blu, Doha. Nyoy Volante, known as the Philippines’ king of acoustic pop, hit songmaker Juris Fernandez and the country’s acoustic princess, Princess Velasco, want to “emotionally connect” with a 2,500-strong audience in Qatar. The event, which comprises two concerts, will be organised by Infinity Productions and Media Plus. At a press briefing yesterday, Leslie Viloria of Infinity Productions said the concerts are meant for not only Filipinos but for people of all nationalities. “The concerts are for everybody. Our artistes will sing more English songs,” she added. Dubbed as Seasons of Rock, the April 4 concert promises to enthral rockers and party lovers. On April 5, Seasons of Love will give families, couples and all ballad lovers the opportunity to have a good time. Viloria said the twin concerts would be among the biggest in Doha. They were plans to hold such concerts in other countries in the Middle East, such as Bahrain, as well. “I really believe in these three artistes and one of them, Nyoy Volante, also happens to be my mentor from Glee Club. We have done a lot of concerts in the Philippines,” she said. Most of the sponsors also attended the press briefing. The growing number of Filipino expatriates in Qatar has attracted many companies to sponsor events such as this. Chester Legaspi of Mediacom, one of the sponsors, urged the Filipino community and other expatriate groups not to miss the concerts as they would be a “good opportunity to relax and release stress”. “We are always busy with our business plans, busy trying to make money. But life goes beyond money. So, it’s a great privilege to have such an event here,” Legaspi said. Stressing that music can cure the soul, Legaspi said: “We at Mediacom simply want to bring simple joys into our lives.” Two local bands – Analog Chemistry and Zyclone Band - will perform during the two-day event besides the three artistes. The former is Viloria’s band that plays acoustic music and jazz, while the latter is one of the best variety bands in Qatar, having performed over the past three years. “We love rock and we also love love songs,” Viloria said. http://www.gulf-times.com/qatar/178/details/345576/-top-filipino-singers-to-serenade%2c-rock-qatar-in-concerts
