Top advisers to debate telecoms deal prospects

Leading investment banking and legal advisers will meet in Doha to debate telecoms consolidation prospects in the emerging markets on the M&A Advisers Panel at the TMT Finance and Investment Middle East 2010 conference on April 26-27. Sector heads from Clifford Chance, Citi, Credit Suisse, Goldman Sachs and JP Morgan have been announced as expert speakers for the panel which will take place in front of an international audience of telecoms chief executives, investors and advisers. The session takes place at a pivotal time for telecom operators and merger and acquisition advisers in the Emerging Markets. “The Middle East and Africa are core areas for telecoms transactions this year,” said Joachim Fleury, global head of TMT, Clifford Chance, one of the world’s leading law firms. Mohamed Amersi, CEO of Emergent Telecom Ventures, will chair the M&A Advisers Panel session, which will feature Joachim Fleury, global head of TMT, Clifford Chance; Bill Kennish, head of TMT EMEA, Citi; David P Wheeler, chairman EMEA Telecoms, Credit Suisse; Valentin Pitarque, executive director TMT, Goldman Sachs International and Javier Zurita, head of telecoms EMEA, JPMorgan. “Merger and acquisition activity involving telecom operators in the Middle East and Africa will be a key business driver for 2010,” said Dominic Lowndes, editor of Telecom Deal Alert, the official newsletter for the conference. “Telecom infrastructure sales, operator consolidation and asset reallocation deals worth up to $30bn are already being planned in these regions.” Now in its fourth year, TMT Finance & Investment Middle East 2010, which takes place at the Sharq Village Hotel Doha, April 26-27 (www.tmtfinance.com/me), is the premier networking event for telecom, media and technology executives, investment bankers and advisers in the region.
