Qatar Calendar House said Tuesday that the shadow of Al Kaaba will completely disappear at Wednesday's Dhuhr prayer at 12:18 PM Mecca time (9:18 UTC), as the sun will be perpendicular to Al Kaaba.
Dr Bashir Marzouq, who is an astronomer at the Qatar Calendar House, said that the shadow of Al Kaaba during Dhuhr prayer is crucial to determining Qibla anywhere in the world. He added that Qibla anywhere in the world is in the opposite direction to the shadow of Al Kaaba at Dhuhr prayer. He said that the phenomenon of the sun being perpendicular to Al Kaaba happens in May and July of every year.
