Toastmasters fraternity in Qatar welcomes new officer bearers
July 1 2013 marked a new journey for the toastmasters in Qatar. New division council took over in full swing officially. The unanimously elected Division Governor for 2013-2014 TM Saquib Raza Khan is the man with the plan. His team has already organized a club officers training with leadership excellence training with an unprecedented attendance of more than 200 toastmasters in Qatar. This event was held at the Birla Public School, Qatar.
Also at this event TM Saquib announced his team for the new term 2013-2014 which is as follows, TM Nasimudeen Hameed as the Assistant Division Governor for Education and Training, TM Shyam Sundar as the Assistant Division Governor for marketing, TM Thomas Joseph as the Division Public Relations officer, TM Mohammed Hashir as the Division Secretary and TM Muneer Sheikh as the Division Treasurer. Apart from this there were 8 Area Governors who were also announced which are as follows, TM Thayalan. K for Area 12, TM Juttas Paul for Area 18, TM Rauf Ahmad Shahzad for Area 28, TM Sethupathy Sivarama for Area 42, TM Ravi Kumar for Area 43, TM Mohammed Salauddin for Area 51, TM Suresh Manivasagan for Area 68 and TM Ganeshram Ramamirtham for Area 69. Sameer Hassan Moosa, DTM was appointed as the Speakers Bureau chair TM Sundaresan Subramaniam as the Gavel Coordinator and TM Layal Baaklini was appointed as the Arabic Club coordinator for the term 2013-2014.
Another occasion for celebration for all toastmasters in Qatar was the election of TM Subha Anupindi as the Lieutenant Governor for Education and Training for District 20. Last year she held the office of Lieutenant Governor for Marketing for District 20. She is yet another passionate toastmaster who has been a toastmaster for more than a decade.
The First Club officers training was held with a difference this year compared to last year. It began with a Toastmasters Learning Institute (TLI) style leadership excellence training where in 7 leadership trainings were delivered to a enthusiastic group of 30 toastmasters per each session. The USP of this training session was the very fact that it was delivered by the past Division Governors.
TM Saquib says this year Division E focuses on quality than quantity. He also said that this year more focus will be on the awareness of Toastmasters movement among Qataris and two such events are already in pipeline this year aimed only for the benefit of Qataris.
He already announced a one of its kind workshop expected to happen in September this year where he is bringing in distinguished presenters from overseas. Although such events are held for the benefit of toastmasters however non toastmasters are most welcome to come forward and witness this mega event. There are 35 clubs in Qatar at present and newly elected Division Governor has envisioned that the number of clubs may or may not increase by the end of this term however the quality of each club would definitely improve.
