We’re only a few weeks into the New Year, and the sport of tennis has kicked off 2017 in Qatar with a bang! With the Qatar ExxonMobil Open recently ending, we’re excited that Qatar will be hosting yet another international tennis tournament from February 13-18, 2017 – The 2017 Qatar Total Open.

This 15th edition of the WTA Premier tournament will host numerous world-class athletes, including seven of the world’s top-ten female players. According to Doha Stadium Plus, several favorites competing include world No. 1 Angelique Kerber, Agnieszka Radwanska, Dominika Cibulkova, Karolina Pliskova, and many others. Be sure to keep an eye out for defending champion Carla Suárez Navarro who is hoping to join Anastasia Myskina, Maria Sharapova, and Victoria Azarenka in holding the title of two-time winner of this Premier tournament.

In total, 32 players will compete in the singles tournament alongside 16 pairs who will compete in the doubles for the $776,000 in prize money.

“It’s a great privilege to host this world-class event again in Doha. Qatar has become a home for tennis and we’re ready as usual to showcase the best the game can offer. All hands are on deck to ensure a very successful tournament and it’s our belief that this year’s event will be greater than all the previous,” said Qatar Total Open Tournament Director, Saad al Mohannadi.

Tickets for the 2017 Qatar Total Open matches are available at City Center, Landmark, and Villaggio Malls, as well as at the kiosk of the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex.
