Three persons were killed and two injured in two separate accidents on Qatar’s roads yesterday. Two people died when their car overturned on the Al Khor main road at about 11am. The victims were reported to be Asian workers. Police patrols from the Al-Shamal Security Department reached the accident site and supervised the transportation of the bodies to the hospital, a source told Arrayah. Initial investigations by the traffic police found the accident occurred as a result of “lack of attention of the driver”, a source said. The second accident occurred at 4.45pm on the Airport Road and some five vehicles were damaged in the crash that claimed the life of a motorist who was driving a sedan. He was killed on the spot when his car was hit by a Land Cruiser on the road that leads from the Airport traffic signal to the Toyota showroom signal. Two people sustained minor injuries in the accident. The victim’s car rammed a light mast and a tree, cutting it into two. There were conflicting reports about the identity of the victim. According to some eye witnesses, the deceased was an Arab, probably an Egyptian. They also said the Land Cruiser was driven by an Asian. However, these reports could not be verified. A source said the tragedy occurred after the Land Cruiser’s right front tyre burst and it swerved to the right, hitting the sedan which hit the post. The sedan was wrecked in the impact of the crash. “We heard a loud sound and thought the crane at a nearby construction site had hit something, then we went outside and saw the accident on the road,” said a person working in one of the commercial buildings along the Airport Road. They said the victim was thrown out of his car because of the huge impact. His body, they said, was seen lying on the road. http://www.gulf-times.com/qatar/178/details/358381/three-die-in-crashes-on-airport-and-al-khor-roads
