The 7th Doha International Maritime Defence Exhibition & Conference (DIMDEX 2022), which is being held at Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC) from 21-23 March 2022, is one of Qatar’s most prominent events. Boasting more than 80 delegations this year, the event has placed itself among the leading global events for the maritime security and defence industry.
For this year, DIMDEX adopts the theme “Connecting the World’s Maritime Defence and Security Community”. The event is true to its theme as QNCC becomes a melting pot for international maritime security and defence officials, military strategists, industry analysts, international relations scholars, international media, and more.
In this article, the ILoveQatar.net (ILQ) team gives you a glimpse of what to do at DIMDEX 2022.
As you enter DIMDEX’s exhibition hall you’ll be welcomed by the amazing displays of the latest maritime security and defence technologies and machines, from military vehicles to fighter jets. Exhibitors such as BMC, one of the largest military vehicle manufacturers in Türkiye, put up displays of their military vehicles for visitors to see.
Aside from military vehicles, a replica of a number of military aircraft is also displayed at the exhibit. Smack dab in the middle of the exhibit hall, you’ll find military aircraft showcased by aerospace companies that design and assemble these aircraft.
If warships excite you more, check out the miniature models of the ships that are displayed at DIMDEX including the latest ships and submarines.
Military guns are one of the priorities of several countries when it comes to their security and defences. Visit the stalls of some of the world’s ammunition and weapon manufacturers, you might get lucky and be presented with a demonstration of the specifics of some of the guns on display.
One of DIMDEX 2022’s most awaited events is the visiting warships tour. You’ll be able to go into the warships that are visiting from different countries at Hamad Port. Last DIMDEX 2018, vessels from countries such as but not limited to, Algeria, India, Italy, Saudi Arabia, and Oman were at the Hamad Port!

Note: Shuttle buses are available from QNCC to Hamad Port and is free of charge for all registered DIMDEX visitors. Schedule of shuttle buses is available at Service Counters. Only authorised cars will be allowed access into Hamad Port.
Immerse yourself in the technologies used by the Qatar Emiri Air Force as displayed in their exhibit. Check out the jets that Qatar uses such as the F15 and get a chance to pilot it yourself through the exhibit’s pilot and weapons simulation. You’ll be able to not only pilot the aircraft, but you could also assist your pilot and be in charge of deploying the missiles in this simulation!
Project 401 and Brouq Naval Training Camp’s exhibit gives you the ultimate Joint Special Force experience. The exhibitors explain in great detail the rigorous training the Joint Special Force goes through and offers you the chance to run through their training using the latest technologies. Using Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality, this exhibit takes you to the training camps here in Qatar.
Apart from the tons of displays and great technologies showcased at DIMDEX, there are also a number of simulations you could experience for an in-depth appreciation and understanding of the latest military equipment available. CAE, one of the exhibitors at DIMDEX, offers simulations for maritime security and defence officers to use in training; these simulations are available for testing at DIMDEX!
