Youth run social enterprise in Qatar – The Youth Company, in partnership with Gulf Warehousing Company and W Hotel & Residences, has achieved distributing about 3,000 iftar boxes in different locations around Doha – including labors in Msheireb area and drivers at different traffic lights, during iftar time while engaging 50 young volunteers. The iftar boxes, that were hand-packed by the TYC volunteers at the beginning of July consists of dates, miswaks, Ramadan calendars and water cuplets donated by a Qatari mineral water producer and supplier – Rayyan Water.

The distribution is a part of TYC’s 7asanat Olympics program that aims to provide a volunteering opportunity to more than 120 volunteers every day during Ramadan. The month-long 7asanat Olympics program is in partnership with local and international organizations to help engage youth to the community with the spirit of the holy month.

“Ramadan is all about good deeds and engaging people, while awakening your spirits. Our 7asanat Olympics program has so far engaged more than 120 volunteers with an opportunity to gain voluntary experience every day during Ramadan” – said Abdulrahman Sajid, Events & Programs Manager at The Youth Company.

While most of the experiences include iftars with different communities, some of the opportunities are much interactive such as visiting the elderly homes, hospitals or collecting in-kind charity to support Sheikh Eid Charitable Association’s in-kind charity program.

“The program is versatile” – says Habibah Abbas, a volunteer at 7asanat Olympics Program – “I was able to engage and get to know more about the different less fortunate communities in Qatar. It truly is a life-changing experience – and that even, in Ramadan!”

7asanat Olympics program is organized in partnership with other local businesses, organizations and communities, such as I Love Qatar, 28 Black, Al Abdulla Group Enterprise, Qatar Museums, Youth Hub Qatar and Hamad Medical Corporation.

“This program would not have been possible without the support of all the local business and organizations that put their trust in the youth of the country. We are excited and looking forward to more experiences as such.” – Sajid added.
