The Ritz-Carlton, Doha and Qatar Red Crescent joined forces on organizing a three-day educational “Stop Smoking Today” campaign for "No Tobacco Day". On May 29 and May 30, the delegation of Qatar Red Crescent led by a professional doctor and experts, had several meetings with the hundreds of Ladies and Gentlemen of The Ritz-Carlton, Doha offering preventive information and measures on how to efficiently quit smoking. The "No Tobacco Day" campaign which ran over a course of three days was concluded on n May 31 when the Ladies and Gentlemen of The Ritz-Carlton, Doha joined by Qatar Red Crescent's experts introduced the campaign directly to the hundreds of guests and visitors of the hotel. QRC team conducted blood pressure test and clarified the dangers of smoking. They explained how smokers have a higher rate of diseases compared to non-smokers including many types of cancers, lung diseases, as well as heart and blood vessel disease. Tobacco destroys the health of 5 million people a year. Researches show that 80% - 90% of cases of lung cancer are caused by smoking.
