The little Island of Tristan da Cunha is located in the South Atlantic Ocean and it is a territory of the United Kingdom. There are only 267 resident on the Island. Although Tristan da Cunha has no airport, you can take a fishing boat from Cape Town to the Island. This boat ride is offered 8 times a year only, and it takes seven days to get to Tristan da Cunha, ONE way. SEVEN days. Seeing as the seas are so choppy around the Island the harbor only open for about 60-70 days a year.

The island has only three television stations and extremely limited internet. So for those who want to disconnect and switch to a more simple lifestyle this may be worth looking into. The locals are described as warm and friendly and there is a Pub. There are also penguins and a volcano on the island. These can be big draws to the right person.

The island is seeking an “agricultural advisor” to help reduce the island’s dependency on imported foods and help to avoid bankruptcy. They are offering free accommodation, travel, and a negotiable salary. You can check out the job posting here.

So if living in Qatar has worn you out and you’d like to take a step back in time and enjoy a simple slow life… Tristan da Cunha may be calling you.[Source]
