His Excellency Mr. Mohammed Abdul Wahed Ali AlHammadi, Minister of Education and Higher Education told there will be no revaluation of results for the students who have recently failed their secondary exams. He was addressing a crowd of parents and guardians of the failed students. Supreme Education council reported earlier this week that some 12 percent of fourth to eleventh graders failed the first phase of their exams. About 88 percent passed. The first phase of exams was taken in early July. The minister denied reports that the failed students percentage reached 70 percent .He argued that 40 percent failure was recorded in the second round. Success and failure are two sides of the same coin. It is as normal for a student to succeed as it is to fail. It is part of education process. A student succeeds when he secures a percentage at or above a certain mark and fails, when he fails to reach that mark, said Hammadi. Shortage of qualified educators and the great number of unruly children are the the biggest problems facing government-funded independent schools.
